When I was first approached
about helping promote a
new online Poker
site
back in 2001, I was intrigued by the growth possibilities this game promised
for the future. Regardless, I did not have a clue that it would explode into
the size that it has. Although the Poker revenues online were nothing to sneeze
at
back then, (around 80 million dollars), the growth to come was at that time
unfathomable.
By the end of 2010, it is expected that the online Poker industry will have
exploded to close to
7 BILLION dollars.
Amateurs Fuel
Growth
Although poker would have grown on its' own merits,
it would be rather short
sighted to believe that it would have reached the extremes it has without the
famous WSOP win by amateur Chris Moneymaker in 2003, and then by another
amateur in 2004, Greg Raymer. The dreams that they created for the
everyday player were a huge facet of the explosive growth of the online and
offline poker industry during the past 7 years.
Cheating Scandal
Interrupts Growth
The thing I had a tough time with in the beginning
was the integrity of
the online game. It seemed to me that there were too many possibilities
for the game to be cheated. Unfortunately, I was not wrong.
When Absolute Poker and UltimateBet were caught in a
cheating scandel,
it was a wakeup call for everyone who thought they were playing on a level
playing field.
It was alleged that players on these sites were pillaged for over 20 Million
dollars.
Many players simply walked away from the online game when those scandels
surfaced.
Today, it is believed that the holes that allowed
cheating have all been plugged.
Whether that is true or not, until there is evidence to the contrary, it will be
up to the individual players to decide whether they are getting dealt with
fairly
at the online poker sites.
Rush Poker...Boom
or Bust?
In order to keep the players interested, online
poker, not unlike any other industry,
must keep coming up with different venues. The latest twist is taking online
poker
by storm. They call it Rush Poker. Available exclusively at Full Tilt Poker,
Rush Poker
is touted as the ultimate high-speed poker experience.
This revolutionary new poker format is designed to
minimize your wait time between hands
and keep you in the action at all times. Whether you’re playing a Rush Poker
ring game or
a Rush Poker Tournament, you’ll join a large player pool and face a different
table of
opponents every hand you play. When you fold your hand, you’ll be rushed to a
new table
for the next hand immediately.
Will Rush Poker become a venue of choice for online
players? Only time will tell. I have
heard both pro and con. I will say however, those who thrive on living on the
edge seem
to be hard core fans. If you want to give it a try, click here to sign up today!
Was my boss interested in me? ?
I had started a new job where I met my very good looking boss that I developed a bit of a crush on. I didn't let my feelings show because I knew I didn't want to risk my job and work relationship with him.
In the beginning we got to know each other a bit he joked around alot and was always helping me out wanting me to succeed.
as time went on though we joked around and flirted a bit more...I ended up going to a party with friends where he attended and we talked and joked around all night .. He at one point saw me talking to a guy and came stood right up next to put his arm around me and gave this impression to the other guy that we were dating. my friends had told me to go for it but I knew better that it could get really awkward at work if he didn't feel the same etc. I had gone out to clubs with him and other coworkers where we would all get a little buzzed and he would keep joking about firing me and getting "angry" at me for dancing with his friends.
What struck me was once I had gone into work and he was joking around with our other coworker and the three of us had become good friends he showed me this paper that had a heart drawn on it and both mine and my boss' name on it, his ontop followed by loves and my name. He showed it to me with a smile on his face like what do you think ? But I put on my poker face and pretended like they were crazy people. my coworker used to always say he saw me and my boss together that we would look good together .. I always gave no comment and he always asked what I had thought about him but I knew never to say anything.
I tried to initiate a movie night after work and invite my boss and coworker with 2 other girls to go we ended up going for dinner first and my boss sat right up next to me and immaturely throwing napkins or straw wrappers at me.
He's no longer my boss but we still keep intouch what should I do? Was he showing interest in me?
is this a good story?
OK im a 13 guy and this story is meant to be funny im from the U.S.A so this may be childish or dumb to people of other countries this is not the exact story this is just a basic run down of the first 5 pages
there is darkness and a man person 1 is sitting at a black jack sort of table and the room lights up and 5 men walk in. so basically the guy sitting there before they walk in was "found cheating" at a game of poker the 5 men who walk in are 50s style Las Vegas gangsters group 1. so they sit down and explain to the man "found cheating" that they he would play a game of poker and who ever loses first dies but little does person 1 know that group 2 has rigged his cards so he would lose
after describing the room i will say minutes passed but then person 1 says "royal flush" group 1 then gasps and person 1 flings the card and it kills each person in group 1 but an explosion occurs behind the door and it and a man looking like the neighborhood watch creeper guy walks in and says to person 1 "look its card man" and person 1 now card man says "the gambler"
that's all i can think of so far im more looking for comments but critiquing is alright i guess
also in the piece they will not be refer to as group 1 and person 1 and person 1 is card man
What does this phrase mean?
'The kind who comes to poker,
pockets stuffed with kings and aces.'
It's from a song, and I'm not sure as to what it means?
